This notice describes how this website actually behaves. It is written to match what the site does, not what it might do in future.
What this website collects
This is a static website. It has no user accounts, no login, no analytics service and no advertising. The server that delivers these pages records standard request information such as the page requested and the browser type; this is normal web-server logging and is not used to identify visitors.
Enquiry forms
The contact and membership enquiry forms do not send anything to this website. When you submit one, your browser composes an email in your own email application, and the information you typed becomes part of that email. It is transmitted only if you choose to send it, and it is then handled by the society's email provider and mailbox.
Please do not send personal medical details, symptoms or patient information through these forms. Email is not a secure channel for clinical information.
Theme preference
The site stores your light or dark theme choice in your browser's local storage under the key "jos-theme". This value stays on your device, is not sent to any server and can be cleared by clearing your browser storage.
Cookies
This website sets no cookies of its own and shows no cookie banner because there is nothing to consent to.
Third-party services
The contact page embeds a Google Maps view of Government Medical College Jammu. Google may process your request and may set cookies when the map loads. The map is loaded lazily and there is an external "Open in Google Maps" link if you prefer not to load the embed.
External links are marked and point to other websites with their own privacy practices.
Retention
This website stores no personal information. Emails sent to the society mailbox are kept in that mailbox for as long as needed to answer the enquiry, and are handled by the society's office.
Your choices
You can browse this entire website without submitting any information. To ask what correspondence you have sent us, or to ask for it to be deleted, write to the society at jmuophthalmologicalsociety@gmail.com.
Changes
If the society adds a form endpoint, analytics or any other service that changes how information is handled, this notice will be updated before that change takes effect.
